Lincoln City Foundation have joined the local community to support a Lincolnshire primary school after a suspected arson attack.
Billinghay CE Primary School near Sleaford were left heartbroken after a fire at their equipment shed on the school site left them without any PE equipment for the children. The fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday 27 January, with what is currently being described a deliberate act of vandalism, pending a full police enquiry.
Associated charity Friends of Billinghay CE Primary school have started fundraising to help the school recoup the losses and have already raised an amazing £2,275 towards the cause. After reading about the disaster Lincoln City Foundation felt compelled to offer their support and dropped off a large donation of PE Equipment to the school today.
“We believe that keeping children physically active plays a hugely important role in their wellbeing and engagement at school. When we heard about the loss of essential gym equipment at Billinghay CE Primary School we were really keen to support the community effort and donate the sports equipment and keep their pupils moving.”

Earlier in the year Lincoln City Foundation were donated a supply of PE equipment, thanks to support from the Professional Footballers’ Association and Sports Direct. The equipment was shared between the Foundation’s Partner schools, to help with the delivery of interactive PE during the Coronavirus pandemic. This allows for children to have high activity time and high engagement whilst being able to play and participate throughout the lesson.
Lincoln City Foundation and The Professional Footballers’ Association were pleased to be able to use part of this donation to support Billinghay CE Primary School in their time of need.
Dave Palmer, Community Liaison Executive, Professional Footballers' Association said:
“It is fantastic to see that the support provided by our equipment partner Sports Directory UK – on behalf of SportsDirect.com is being donated and utilised is such a positive way by the Lincoln City Foundation after the tragic circumstances at a local primary school. We hope that the equipment donated will make a big difference during this difficult time to all the young people involved.”
